A World Championship is coming to MetLife Stadium and it won't involve the Giants or the Jets. FIFA announced the host cities for the 2026 World Cup on Thursday, with the bid representing New York and New Jersey among the 16 chosen. MetLife will be the "New York" site.
This Carpenter Has Many Tools That Help New York Yankees
It's hard to go through a minor league system, spend 11 years with one Major League organization and then just move on. The St. Louis Cardinals were done with Matt Carpenter and bought out his option in November. The 36 year-old utility master, who has played significant time at 1st, 2nd, 3rd, left field and right field, knew someone could use his tools. In addition to his defensive skills, the 3-time All Star has a Silver Slugger Award in that belt.
New York Mets Question Marks Stack As Atlanta Gets Hot
True New York Mets fans hold their breath, wait for the next shoe to drop, etc, until about the second week in October. When that rare occurrence happens and their beloved team makes the playoffs, they will be generally satisfied and begin to enjoy the winning experience. Until that point, it's early and plenty of bad stuff can and has happened to this franchise.
No Super Bowls But New York Jets Add 3 More To Ring Of Honor
The New York Jets last won a Super Bowl prior to Apollo 11 astronaut, Neil Armstrong's walk on the moon, nearly 53 years ago. Yet, the NFL franchise still honors players that prospered during the 5 plus decades of Gang Green championship futility. The trio being honored during the 2022 season did their very best to bring the Jets faithful a Lombardi Trophy and came sort of close twice.
New York Yankees Show Thor’s Hammer Is Still A Myth
At six foot-six, with long blonde hair flowing from his hat, he almost looked mythical on the pitcher's mound. For six years the New York Mets had hoped that the player nicknamed "Thor" would be hammering opposing batters with his 100 mph fastball. The mythical character came to life on multiple occasions for Noah Syndergaard and the Mets, just not enough to keep the towering right-hander in Queens, NY. Tuesday night, the Yankees showed the Mets why they didn't lose much.
Ex-New York Jets QB Thinks Tom Brady Has A Problem
Problems for most of us are relative. So, when a former New York Jets quarterback suggests that Tom Brady has a problem, I immediately rule out that it is an issue on the playing field. In the span of TB12's playing career he has played in 9 Super Bowls. In that same span of time, actually in the last 53 years, the Jets have not played in a single Super Bowl. So, logic leads us to the difficulty being off the playing field.
Which Red Sox Pitchers Could Be New York Mets Trade Targets?
Thursday afternoon, prior to the New York defeating the St. Louis Cardinal by a score of 7-6, on a walk-off moon-shot by the polar bear, Pete Alonso, the Mets announced that Max Scherzer would be out for 6 to 8 weeks. Scherzer removed himself from the game in the middle of a batter with 2 outs in the 6th inning. Even though they are in first place and twelve games over .500, the Amazin's need pitching help.
Aaron Boone Brings The Heat For New York Yankees Dugout
If you want to win a World Championship in Major League Baseball, one thing is for sure, the players have to feel that the manager has their back. You hear all of the time about "team chemistry" within winning organizations. That starts with the skipper and in the New York Yankees clubhouse, there is no doubt about where Aaron Boone stands.
New York Mets Eat $37.6 Million “Canó Sandwich”
On Monday at 4pm, Major League Baseball teams have to reduce their rosters to 26 from 28. The first place New York Mets were wrestling with different scenarios. The first move was painful but easy. Relief pitcher Sean Reid-Foley was put on the Injured List on Saturday. The pitcher that replaced him for Sunday's game was Yoan López.
Red Hot New York Mets Will Be Buck-Less
The New York Mets are red-hot coming off of their doubleheader sweep of the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. The 9-3 Amazin's sit in first place going into Wednesday's game. ESPN's Buster Olney told The Drive with Charlie & Dan that new manager Buck Showalter is a big reason in that turnaround.
