Cory Booker’s wife just revealed her bagel order and I’m floored

We are nothing in New Jersey if not extremely vocal about our opinions, especially when it comes to our food.

Is it pork roll or Taylor Ham? What goes on a pizza? And of course: all things bagels.

That’s why it was, frankly, brave of Alexis Lewis, U.S. Sen. Cory Booker’s wife, to reveal her bagel order in a recent interview with The Cut.

The two have been married since November 2025, so she’s still getting used to the Jersey lifestyle.

She’s been getting recommendations for local restaurants to try, which she is keeping on a spreadsheet. As of the interview, her favorite bagel joint is Sunrise Bagels in North Jersey.

It’s what she gets that gave me pause.

Her order is a cinnamon-raisin bagel with onion cream cheese, lox, tomato, onion, cucumber, and a side of whitefish salad.

There’s so much to unpack here.

(Full disclosure, Alexis, let me just say that I know you’re a smarter person than I am. That’s why you work as a higher-up at a real estate investment firm and I work in radio writing these blogs, but I also know my Jersey bagels.)

Now that that’s out of the way, I have to dissect this order.

First, I’m skeptical of anyone whose go-to bagel is a cinnamon-raisin. Raisins ruin almost everything they’re in.

If these bagels were my only choice, the most I would put on it is butter so that there aren’t too many conflicting flavors.

That’s where Alexis says “hold my beer”… or “bagel,” as it were.

The rest of this order would be perfectly fine on a plain or everything bagel where the flavors work with each other. But onion cream cheese, lox, tomato, more onion and some cucumber? This is flavor overstimulation on cinnamon-raisin.

Throw in that side of whitefish salad and I think I’d straight up go into shock if I saw someone eat this.

I guess this is a case of “don’t knock it ’til you try it,” but until then I will remain skeptical.

They are open daily from 5:00 a.m. through 4 p.m.
