Violent NJ man who attacked dog walkers won’t be free until 2073
⚖️ A Newark man was sentenced to 45 years for violent attacks on a woman and an 11-year-old boy.

IRVINGTON — A Newark man convicted of violently attacking two people who had simply gone out to walk their dogs could remain behind bars until 2073.
Caream Davis, 46, has been sentenced to 45 years in state prison, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
The sentence will not begin for another two years because Davis must first finish a separate sentence for violating his parole. If he serves all the prison time ahead of him, Davis will be in his early 90s before he is released back into society.
"We hope that this sentence provides the victims with some measure of closure and also allows them and their fellow residents of Irvington to feel much safer, knowing that this defendant is no longer in the community,” Essex County Assistant Prosecutor Logan Teisch said.
In March, Davis was convicted of several serious crimes, including two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, first-degree kidnapping, second- and third-degree aggravated assault, third-degree making terroristic threats, third-degree criminal restraint, and two counts of third-degree child endangerment.
Two dog walks turned into violent attacks, prosecutors said
Davis was arrested in Richmond, Virginia on June 5, 2024, two days after he left chaos in his wake in Irvington. He was extradited to New Jersey to face justice for a pair of violent sexual attacks.
According to investigators, Davis attacked a woman from behind as she walked her dogs the morning of June 3, 2024. He punched the 51-year-old victim in the back of her head and continued to throw punches as she fell to the ground. The attacked woman told Pix 11 that Davis tried to take off her pants and only fled after she screamed. But he wasn't done.

Soon after, just a few blocks away, Davis found an 11-year-old boy walking his dog. He grabbed the boy by the neck, strangled him, and then took him to the side of a building. Davis sexually assaulted the boy while threatening to kill him, prosecutors said.
"The victims went outside that morning to simply walk their dogs. They could not have imagined how that ordinary task would change their lives forever," Teisch said.
