Phillies Add David Robertson to NLCS Roster

Veteran David Robertson was left off the Philadelphia Phillies roster for their National League Division Series against the Atlanta Braves, but he will be back for their Championship series against the Padres.

Robertson was left off the NLDS roster after he injured his right calf jumping to celebrate Bryce Harper's home run in Game 2 of the NL Wild Card Series win over the Cardinals.

The right-hander appeard in 22 games after coming over in a trade with the Chicago Cubs, with a 2.70 ERA and six saves in 23.1 innings pitched. Overall, he has 20 saves on the season and has a 2.40 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP.

The 37-year-old gives the Phillies another quality arm for late inning situations and could even be used to close games in needed.

The Phillies now have plenty of depth in their bullpen with Jose Alvarado, Zach Eflin, Brand Hand and Seranthony Dominguez pitching key innings in the NLDS win over the braves.

The Phillies acquired Robertson back on Aug 2 in exchange for pitcher Ben Brown.

With Robertson back on the roster, Nick Nelson was left off.  Nelson did not appear in any NLDS games.

There were no surprises among the 13 position players named to the Phillies’ roster. Dalton Guthrie, was chosen over infielder Nick Maton.
