New York Jets Decide It’s Not Wilson’s Turn to Fly…Yet
Not a lot can be gained by rookie quarterback Zach Wilson returning behind center in an NFL game, until new head coach Robert Saleh and general manager squarely on the hot seat, Joe Douglas are positive he is ready. They appear to be making the right decision. The young quarterback can gain more from the sidelines for now.
According to ESPN's Rich Cimini, veteran quarterback Joe Flacco will start at quarterback for the Jets against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Last week, Jets quarterback Mike White threw four interceptions in last week's 45-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Rookie Zach Wilson, meanwhile, has yet to return from a second-degree PCL sprain and the pain and suffering from his first starts in the NFL.
According to Cimini, "Flacco completed all three of his passing attempts and had a touchdown in the fourth quarter of the loss to the Bills. He was acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 25. His experience is likely a factor in the decision with the Jets to face Miami's blitz-heavy defense. Flacco started in a 24-0 loss to the Dolphins in 2020 while with the Jets."
