The Phillies are down another starting pitcher.

Rookie Spencer Howard had to be lifted from his start on Saturday night against Miami, and today the Phillies placed him on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder stiffness.

The news comes on the heels of manager Joe Girardi announcing that Zack Wheeler will not start on Monday against the Marlins because of a injured fingernail. Girardi said he anticipates Wheeler being able to pitch against the Mets next week.

As for Howard, he could come back late in the season, but this could signal the end of his brief rookie season. He has pitched in six games, going 1-2 with a 5.92 ERA in 24.1 innings pitched.
