Its not often that you can find a player on the street this time of the year that can help your team, but after the Houston Texans released Zach Cunningham today, the Eagles should at least kick the tires.

The linebacker led the NFL in tackles in 2020, and is an every-down linebacker who has been among the league's best in pass coverage. The former second-round pick out of Vanderbilt has improved as a run-stopper and would fit in nicely next to T.J. Edwards and allow Alex Singleton to go back to being the third linebacker. The Eagles are without Davion Taylor and have been using Singleton in his place at linebacker.

Since being drafted with the No. 57 overall selection in the 2017 draft, Cunningham has racked up 554 tackles, 26 for loss, 6.5 sacks, an interception and five forced fumbles.

Another reason to kick the tires is, Cunningham comes cheap. The Texans restructured his deal this offseason, meaning if the Eagles claimed him, they would inherit just a $275,000 cap hit for the rest 2021 and has no guarantees for 2022 per NFL insider Field Yates of ESPN.

Cunningham was a healthy inactive this past week for disciplinary reasons and then released on Wednesday.
