Who’s The Next Star That Will Call A New York Dugout Home?

The 99 day impasse between the Major League ball owners and the players is over, for at least another few years. Spring training facilities will be buzzing for the remainder of March, as players, coaches and staff get ready for Opening Day on April 7th. But now the fun part begins. Free agency, as well as the trade market, should be on fire for the next several weeks. Let's see who may or may not land in New York.

If there is one player out there that would fit into New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman's plans, it would be Freddie Freeman. The gifted slugger would provide Aaron Boone and the New York infielders with a tremendous, run saving, glove at first-base. Offensively, the 32-year-old is a clutch, power-hitting, lefty bat that few in Major League baseball can rival. Freeman's 31 homers and 83 RBI led Atlanta to their World Series victory. That's the goal for Hal Steinbrenner's organization every year. Freeman is a good fit. 6 years/$220 million

Shortstop is the position the Bronx Bombers desperately need to fix. I could be totally wrong, but I never saw Carlos Correa as the answer. Correa will come with a big price tag. Correa, unlike former Houston teammate Gerrit Cole, may not be welcomed too easily into the Yankees clubhouse. The free-agent shortstop was in the middle of the Astros cheating scandal. The results of which may have prevented players like Aaron Judge from reaching, and possibly winning a World Series. I see Correa returning to Houston.

Will New York Mets Steve Cohen completely dismiss the penalties of the Competitive Balance Tax in Major League Baseball? The Amazin's are going over. It's just a matter of how far? That leaves open the possibility that general manager Billy Eppler, who loves to spend money, will land free-agent Kris Bryant. The gifted 3rd baseman/outfielder would be a tremendous addition to the Mets. However, the cost will be tough and blow the Mets into another stratosphere when it comes to salary. Too many stars with big contracts could create long term problems for the Mets. I don't see Kris Bryant in the home dugout at Citi Field. We'll have more names coming your way. Maybe like the guy below coming to one of the New York bullpens...
