The Eagles had a vacancy in their tight end room, and they filled it with a familiar face.

The team had a roster spot open and with only two tight ends on the final 53 man roster, it was evident that another tight end would be joining Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert.

Richard Rodgers has rejoined the team, with the Eagles announcing his signing on the their social media account.

Rodgers, 28, was drafted by the Packers in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

He spent four seasons with the Packers, with 2015 serving as his best year statistically – he caught a career-high 58 passes on 85 targets for 510 yards and eight touchdowns that year.

In 2018 he signed with the Eagles, and in two seasons he has just one catch for seven yards.

Rodgers went to Washington this offseason as a free agent, but was released on cut down day.  With both is familiarity with the Eagles offense, and facing Washington this week, Rodgers names was a popular choice to return to the team.

He provides blocking and depth to the Eagles tight end position.
